Research / App case study

AniTala

A Java application connecting harvest intake, produce sales, FEFO inventory, waste, and audit-safe sale voiding to repeatable warehouse ETL, Apriori rules, and K-means buyer segmentation.

Local classroom prototype · synthetic data

01 / Overview

What it’s built for.

Connect harvest-to-market transactions to a repeatable analytical warehouse and explainable mining results.

Who it serves

Students studying transaction processing, data warehousing, and mining in one application.

02 / Features

Inside the app.

Operational records

Record harvest batches, multi-item sales, waste, and inventory movements with first-expiring-first-out stock allocation.

Audit-safe corrections

Void sales without deleting them and restore allocated stock through traceable movements.

Warehouse and mining

Refresh reconciled warehouse facts, export CSV, and run Apriori rules and deterministic K-means buyer segmentation.

03 / Workflow

From task to outcome.

  1. Record a harvest batch and its shelf life.

  2. Complete a sale using eligible stock or record waste.

  3. Inspect inventory and movement history; void mistaken sales when needed.

  4. Refresh warehouse facts and inspect mining results and reports.

04 / Technical layers

How the pieces work.

Interface

HTML · Local Bootstrap · JavaScript

A responsive browser interface uses bundled assets for local operation.

Application and API

Java · Javalin · JDBC

The loopback HTTP server validates transactions and rolls back incomplete sales.

Data layers

Embedded SQLite

Operational tables and warehouse dimensions/facts are logically separate inside one database file.

Analytics

ETL · Apriori · K-means

Repeatable loads and deterministic mining operate on synthetic teaching records.

05 / Limitations

What to keep in mind.

  • Names, transactions, prices, and patterns are synthetic educational data.
  • The server binds to localhost; it is not a public or LAN deployment.
  • Mining outputs are classroom demonstrations, not findings about real agricultural behavior.
