Experience / OJT

Inside the workflow.

At USM Hospital, I explored how small software tools could reduce repetitive encoding and make routine information easier to review.

Developer Intern

University of Southern Mindanao Hospital

USM Hospital · KabacanMay 18 — July 10, 2026

During my OJT, I explored and built prototypes around YAKAP-related encoding, X-ray, laboratory, and pharmacy workflows, with an emphasis on reducing repetitive steps and keeping information clear for staff.

Toolkit

A stack with range.

I choose the stack around the problem, but these are the technologies I keep coming back to.

About / approach

The screen is only half the work.

I like following a feature from its interface through the API and database, then testing that the pieces work together. Most of my projects start with a workflow that feels slower or more confusing than it needs to be.

I’m early in my career and looking for software engineering opportunities where I can learn from a team, contribute to interfaces, APIs, databases, and testing, and keep building useful things.

01

Start with the workflow

Understand what someone is already doing before changing the screen.

02

Make the state obvious

Use plain language, clear feedback, and data people can verify.

03

Be honest about the prototype

Show what works, say what does not, and protect the context around the data.
